Summer Reading List Part 3

Just about 1 month left until school starts back, at least down here in Texas. So here's my last Summer Reading List to help pull you or your kids away from screen time.

I'm going to start this month out with my favorite author, Brandon Mull.

Jason tumbles into a quest to save a magical in this #1 New York Times bestselling start to Brandon Mull’s Beyonders fantasy series.

Jason Walker has often wished his life could be a bit less predictable—until a routine day at the zoo ends with Jason suddenly transporting from the hippo tank to a place unlike anything he’s ever seen. In the past, the people of Lyrian welcomed visitors from the Beyond, but attitudes have changed since the wizard emperor Maldor rose to power. The brave resistors who opposed the emperor have been bought off or broken, leaving a realm where fear and suspicion prevail.

In his search for a way home, Jason meets Rachel, who was also mysteriously drawn to Lyrian from our world. With the help of a few scattered rebels, Jason and Rachel become entangled in a quest to piece together the word of power that can destroy the emperor and learn that their best hope to find a way home will be to save this world without heroes.

Life as Maggie knows it is over.

Every day her dad seems smaller and weaker, her mom is home even less, and her brother, Toby, seems to be angrier than ever. The only thing she seems to be able to do right is read to her dad.

Everything suddenly changes when Toby hangs a swing from a tree in the backyard. Maggie is transported to a magical forest filled with fairies and creatures she’s only read about. When she discovers the fairies’ magic is being drained, Maggie jumps at the opportunity to help. The last thing she wants to do is go home and find her dad is even sicker.

But is it too late for the fairies and her father, or will Maggie find a way to save them both?

In a land where magic is forbidden, a miniature family awakens on top of an enormous table. They see their mansion in the distance, sitting on the floor of a giant room. Before long, the Dolls of Mahogany Manor realize that they have been abandoned by the sorcerer who created them, and if humans discover them, they will be destroyed. If they work together, can this tiny family survive in a world full of danger and solve the mystery of their existence?

The #1 New York Times bestselling series is hotter than ever, and this thrilling conclusion to the Lost Continent Prophecy arc is a must-read!

With talons united . . .

Luna has always wanted to change the world -- to fix it, to free it -- even if she’s never actually known how. Now that all of dragon - and humankind are in mortal danger, Luna is flying back home to Pantala with a team of dragons on a rescue mission, determined to be brave and useful.

But saving a continent isn’t as easy as a prophecy makes it sound, and “facing a great evil” definitely requires more than the fiery silk that Luna is uniquely able to create. As she fights her way to the abyss that hides the dark roots poisoning Pantala, Luna must uncover a long-buried secret and unite her friends, her enemies, and her own powers. If she doesn’t, she won’t get to change the world. She’ll have to say goodbye to it -- forever.
